What You’ll Find Here

Hedges With Hydrangeas

If you’ve made your way to The Hedge Burner, welcome.

Pull up a chair. Grab a coffee. Ignore the laundry for a few minutes.

This little corner of the internet was created as a place to document the journey of building something new, often imperfectly and usually with more enthusiasm than expertise.

So what exactly will you find here?

Writing

Books are the reason we’re all here.

You’ll find updates on current writing projects, publishing adventures, behind-the-scenes looks at the creative process, and occasional moments of panic when I realize I’ve created another deadline for myself.

Publishing

As it turns out, writing the book is only one part of publishing it.

There are covers to create, websites to build, marketing to learn, proofs to review, and approximately one million decisions to make along the way.

I’ll be sharing the wins, the lessons, and the occasional mistakes so you can learn right alongside me.

Real Life

Because creativity doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

It happens while trying to figure out what’s for dinner for the fifth night in a row. It happens while staring at a closet full of clothes and wondering why your favorite jeans suddenly seem to be holding a grudge. It happens between school schedules, grocery runs, work responsibilities, and all the other pieces of life demanding attention.

The Real Supervisors

No introduction would be complete without mentioning Boone and Maggie, my two golden retrievers.

They are deeply invested in every project, every snack, and every attempt to sit down and be productive.

They have more personality than seems reasonably possible and firmly believe they should be involved in all decision-making processes.

Whether I agree with that assessment remains up for debate.

Creative Chaos

Let’s be honest.

This is probably the category that ties everything together.

The Hedge Burner was never meant to be a perfectly curated highlight reel.

It’s a place for the real journey.

The exciting parts.

The frustrating parts.

The unexpected detours.

The moments where everything seems to be working.

And the moments where you’re wondering what exactly you’ve gotten yourself into.

If any of that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

I’m glad you’re here.

Your friend in the hedges,

Morgan
